Here we have a very rare 1939 Emerson table top tube radio. Ingraham Cabinet Co. produced cabinets for smaller retailers throughout the 1930's & 40's. They included brass nameplates with the cabinets so the retailer could inscribe, and sell the radio as their own trade name. This set must have been an overstock item which was branded with the Emerson nametag for re-sell. It was probably sold in place of their model AM169 and/or BL210 when supplies ran out as it has a very similar design with only a few differences to the grill louvers and inlays. Here we have an absolutely stunning 1937 Zenith Model 5S-119 table top tube radio. The cabinet has received our professional restoration and features a gorgeous American Walnut finish. Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the set with an eye catching burl grain front. Zenith’s famous black dial is simply spectacular. It lights nice and bright for easy dim or dark room tuning. The set also features vernier tuning for pinpoint accuracy. The 5 tube chassis has had all tubes tested and replaced as needed as well as the capacitors and resistors. All bare or brittle wiring has been reinsulated or replaced and the set has been re-aligned for optimal performance. Using the included copper line antenna the radio performs exceptionally well. I’m able to pick up many stations across the AM broadcast band with great tone and plenty of volume. I’m also able to pick up several shortwave stations, especially at night. Here we have Silvertone’s top of the line table radio introduced for the 1940 season. This model R-1591 has everything and looks like it just came off the showroom floor! The well built, solid wood cabinet has received our professional restoration and features a beautiful American Walnut finish. Its shouldered sides, step up top and solid wood grill bars let you know this radio was the ‘Cadillac’ of table tops in 1940. The gold slide rule dial is illuminated by two dial lamps and features dial scales for the AM broadcast band as well as 3 shortwave bands. Situated in the middle of the dial is a magic green tuning eye. The very powerful 9 tube (including eye) chassis has had all tubes tested and replaced as needed as well as the capacitors and resistors. All bare or brittle wiring has been reinsulated or replaced and the set has been re-aligned for optimal performance. Using just the built in loop antenna the radio performs exceptionally well across the AM broadcast and shortwave bands. I’m able to pick up many stations, near and far, with deep rich tone, console like sound and room filling volume from the large 8” speaker. The set also features fully functional pushbutton tuning which would need to be set to your local stations if you intend on using. Striking wood grain flows throughout the entire set with an eye catching chevron grain on the front. The step up top, and large intricate cut grill, really add to the elegance and style. The dial is illuminated by two dial lamps for a bright, warm orange glow. The dial pointer stays stationary on the dial cover while the entire dial rotates for tuning. Quite a unique feature.
